“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did ….” Everything Compounds, Start Now! Background Objectives This 5-day orientation programme will provide an introduction to the journey of self-discovery and self-reliance. It will provide real life scenarios to test your teen’s preparation for the real world through a variety of fun, mental, physical and social activities.
The program is highly engaging and all participants will be challenged to thrive in different settings similar to the ones they will encounter out there at university and in the real world. This programme is designed to take a critical look at your teenagers’ aspirations, (career, life) and assess how prepared, and committed to pursuing them. The introductory module will provide recommendations to the parents and teenagers on next steps. We are well networked with reputable professionals, entrepreneurs and mentors in different fields who will give the individual teenagers a snapshot of their careers of choice. Parents will be required to attend a 30-minute preparatory discussion to brief them on the programme and align expectations of the programme. Students will make commitments at the end of the session and select a follow up upskilling programme for their next session. We shall keep the teenagers engaged through different activities, to allow for open dialogue and learning/ teaching moments.
We pride ourselves in making life’s experiences joyful. We define below our values which are reflected in all our programs and activities. 1. DISCOVERY is about understanding yourself and your strengths; growing to become the true you. We strive to bring out skills our campers never knew they had or never used to their fullest potential. We aim to provide leadership opportunities for all during the whole programme to boost confidence, the key to unlocking each one’s potential. 2. COMMUNITY is all about living together, caring and being there for each other. This is a key component of university life. There is no better setting than a sleep-away camp to experience living as a group, working as a team and helping and supporting each other. This emphasis on community encourages our campers to create solid friendships. 3. EXPLORATION is focused on exploring the world around us and what it has to offer. It includes expanding our campers’ horizons in nature, the sciences and living skills. Exploring leads to a newfound appreciation of our surroundings. 4. FUN is embedded in everything we do.

While Life 101 Camp is a lot of things, it is primarily a safe place for teens to explore who they are, free from negative judgment and external pressures. We are a camp that is all about connection. The program is aimed at building resilient individuals through engaging in real world challenging situations. The introductory module is an initial assessment of your teenager’s skills to provide recommendations of the skills required by your teenager to fare better after leaving home. This 5-day orientation programme will provide an introduction to the journey of self-discovery and self-reliance. It will provide real life scenarios to test your teen’s preparation for the real world through a variety of fun, mental, physical and social activities. We want teenagers to have fun, make friends, and feel good about themselves. We are not a therapeutic camp. We believe our strength is helping campers connect and feel safe, seen, celebrated, and loved for exactly who they are. We have qualified registered nurses on the premises full time. We shall assist dispense prescription and non prescription medications to campers under medical treatment as per their prescriptions and with the guidance from their respective care givers. What is your refund/cancellation policy? If you cancel prior to 31st June 2022, we will issue a full refund. Refunds will not be made after our teen comes to the camp. We accommodate a maximum of 30 campers per program What are the camp staff like? We hire about 6 of the most fun, loving and compassionate people we know. We perform a thorough due diligence and reference check on them. We are drawn to people who embody our values of discovery, community, exploration and fun. How do you keep campers safe at camp? While our camp has a free feel, we have very clear rules regarding behaviors that are allowed and not allowed. We also have zero tolerance toward alcohol and drugs. What about communication and cell phones? We do not allow campers to have their phones. We think that leaving their phones at home gives teens a much better chance of making friends quickly. Most teenagers realize after a few days that being without their phones is liberating. We encourage a lot of journaling. If a camper feels they need to talk with their parents we call you first and generally follow your lead. Often it takes several days for campers to make friends and settle in and we hope you can encourage your teenager to give it time. Who is Life 101 not a good camp for? We are not a therapeutic program or treatment center of any kind. We are not a good camp for teens who have been recently hospitalized for psychiatric reasons, or for teenagers with eating disorders or those who are particularly sensitive to noise and stimulation, or those who are not o.k. living in a rustic setting with a large group of people.
Beddings: Toiletries Important Just for fun
This Life 101 program aimed at equipping our teenagers and young adults with life skills to become masters at their Mindset, “Heart-set”, “Soulset” and “Healthset”.
Teenagers and young adults are often sent to universities away from home without any orientation on how to cope by themselves in the real world. They lack survival skills to stay afloat when faced with life’s challenges.
The program is aimed at building resilient individuals through engaging in real world challenging situations. The introductory module is an initial assessment of your teenager’s skills to provide recommendations of the skills required by your teenager to fare better after leaving home.
Camp life creates the opportunity for incredible friendships that last a lifetime! All campers in camp are bunked according to gender. Before the program, campers can complete the bunk request’ form and request to be with specific campers. We do the best we can to make sure that every child bunks with as many friends as possible.
Some camp activities are enjoyed by the entire bunk. Many other activities are chosen by each individual camper so s/he can enjoy programs that best suit his/her interests. The result is a well-rounded program that allows every child to learn new skills, try new things and most importantly have a great time.
